Taiaha words and pronounciation

Mau Rakau is a Maori martial art that uses Maori weapons. At Linwood North we have created our own Ahai which is a series of moves showing of our skills. Mau Rakau can be a contact sport, but that is not allowed until the students are 15 years old.

This is a short video with the pronunciations for the Taiaha group to do their performance with, something to listen to and get familiar with the words. If anybody else wants to learn it that is cool. Hopefully in the future we will be able to teach more students at school.

Welcome back to Term 3!

I hope everyone had a great break from school and is ready to get back to learning lots. It is an exciting term as we have the official opening of the new hall! It may sound weird but it is also the opening of the rebuilt school, even though it was rebuilt before the earthquakes.

It will be celebrated on Friday the 3rd of August.

this term classes are carrying on with their past and future enquiry and in ESOl we are doing the same. Last term after going to Ferrymead students were looking at things in the past and how they change over time, they had to choose one thing and then guess or predict what it will be replaced with in the future.

The first week though will be all about testing students to find out where they are at and where to go next.

Let's have a great term.
